COVID-19 July 29, 2020 Update
In response to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, TTG continues to suspend some of its onsite training. The courses and programs affected include Custom Training and Working At Heights. TTG’s Pre-Apprenticeship Programs in Clinton and Stratford are both currently in progress. This program delivery is based on a blended delivery model of online learning combined with onsite training in small groups for practical hands-on skills development. TTG intends to continue with this blended training delivery model in the fall when we welcome back our Welder and Fabricator Apprentices in Stratford.
All apprentices and individuals going through the Trade Equivalency Assessment are required to complete an Ontario Welder Practical Assessment prior to the written Welder Red Seal examination. Upon successful completion of both the practical assessment and the written examination, a Certificate of Qualification with a Red Seal Endorsement (RSE) will be issued.
Technical Training Group is a designated Welding Test Centre for Trade Equivalency Assessment applicants.
Testing sessions are offered throughout the year over two nights and consist of two 4-hour testing blocks.
The Ontario Welder Practical Assessment includes:
Exemptions: Welders who have proof of corresponding Canadian Welding Bureau or American Society of Mechanical Engineers certifications (CWB or ASME tickets) for any or all Tests 1 through 5, only have to complete the missing component(s) and the oxy-fuel cutting component of the practical assessment.
Prior to booking, please review the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT) Welder Practical Assessment Testing Guidelines.

The Test Centre is located at Stratford Secondary School, 428 Forman Avenue, Stratford, ON.
*Please Note: All tickets for exemptions must be submitted PRIOR to testing for documentation/verification.
For those who require practice time on any of the welding processes, TTG offers 4-hour practice blocks from 6pm-10pm, on Wednesday nights. Practice sessions must be booked and confirmed with TTG prior to testing.
Proof of Certification/Tickets and Photo ID (Valid driver’s license) must be submitted at least ONE WEEK prior to prepping coupons, as well as on both nights of the Welder Practical Assessment, for verification.
