Eligibility Requirements & Pre-Qualification


Step 1: Find A Sponsor / Employer
Interested in an apprenticeship? You need to first find an employer who will sponsor you as an apprentice.

Step 2: Apply for an Apprenticeship
Once you have a sponsor/employer, you will need to apply to the MTCU for an apprenticeship online. Visit https://www.ontario.ca/page/start-apprenticeship#section-3

If your application is approved, the MTCU will create a training agreement for you and your sponsor to sign and register your apprenticeship training.

You will then need to register with the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT). Once your MTCU training agreement has been registered, you have 90 days to apply for membership with the Ontario College of Trades. You must be a member of OCOT to work as an apprentice.

NOTE: After completing the above steps, you will receive your Offer of Classroom Training from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) approximately 90 days prior to the start of the course.

Step 3: Register for Trade School with TTG.
Once you have received your Offer of Classroom Training from the MTCU, you can register online with TTG and pay to secure your seat.

Total: $950 (no HST required)
Level 1 Fabricator
300 hours

Registration Process:

1. Fill out and submit the online application form below.
2. Provide Full Payment for Tuition & Book fees to secure your seat (Please note: Schooling is offered on a first come, first served basis and seats are limited).
